This was a film that was on my radar from early in the year. I knew that it was doing well at film festivals so it was one that I was waiting to get released. I lucked out when I saw that at the Nightmares Film Festival it was showing for its regional premiere. It was one that I knew I was going to see for sure. The synopsis is a soon-to-be stepmom is snowed in with her fiancé's two children at a remote holiday cabin. Just as relations begin to thaw between the trio, some strange and frightening events takes place.
We start with a mother, Laura (Alicia Silverstone) at home with her two children. Her older son is Aidan (Jaeden Martell) and daughter Mia (Lia McHugh. She has a dollhouse which we learn is modeled after the cabin that they go during the winter. Laura calls her ex-husband, Richard (Richard Armitage) to bring the children over. She's making sure that his new girlfriend won't be there.
She was told that Grace (Riley Keough) wouldn't be, but we see a glimpse of her in a window and then Laura sees her sneaking out the back gate. Through some subtle things, we know that Laura wants to get back together with Richard and is devastated to learn that he plays to ask Grace to marry him. This leads to a traumatic event that rocks this family to the core.
Richard tries to get his children to come around to Grace, but they blame her for what happened. Through them snooping, we learn that Grace has a dark past as her father was the head of a cult and she is the only survivor. Richard tries to have her over for Thanksgiving, but the children lose their minds so he rethinks it.
This all leads to his plan for them to go up to the cabin for Christmas. He still has to work so his plan is to take them up, get them acclimated and then go back, forcing the three to work it out in isolation. There's definitely some awkwardness as Laura decorated the place and there's still things that belonged to her there. They do seem to be making progress until one morning, they wake up to everything they brought is now missing.
Now since this is still a film that hasn't been released just yet and still making the rounds, I wanted to give as much a recap without spoiling anything. I will say that this film definitely lived up to the hype for me. It is such a haunting tale that has a feel of something like Hereditary or Midsommar.
There's an interesting family dynamics here. We have children who are living in broken homes after their parents divorced. They want them to get back together, which is exactly what Laura wants as well. Richard has moved on though. Grace is interesting as I feel like she's a little bit awkward due to her past. Being raised in a cult, she has lasting effects from it.
That's what I really want to delve into next is the religious aspect here. The cult Grace was in was religious based. They took it to the extreme. When they get to the cabin, there's a creepy picture of a nun that looks stern as well as a giant cross. Grace is now at the least agnostic due to the trauma. As she descends into madness, her religious history flares up, which I find quite intriguing.
This film also flirts with is what happening supernatural or is it really happening. I really dug this mystery if I'm going to be perfectly honest. The morning they wake up and everything was before they got there freaked me out. Then every time Grace looks at a certain clock that shows the date, it keeps going back to the same one. This is unnerving and makes her start to think they could have died and are in purgatory. Now this is I guess is a bit of spoiler, but there's a journey to figure out the truth.
That takes me to the pacing of this one, which the runtime clocks in at 100 minutes. I heard the saying that 90 minutes and below are free, anything over that you really have to prove to me it needs to be there. I completely think this film needed that extra time. There was a couple times my jaw actually dropped in shock. I was sucked into this film and trying to figure out what happened. There were things I even missed that were shared with me later that made me like this one even more. With that said, I thought it was paced very well and I like how it ended as I'm down for bleak endings.
Moving to the acting of the film, it is definitely on point. Keough was great as the lead here. I love how subdued she plays the character, but as things around her start to break down we see her descend into madness. She's mentally disturbed from her past and with the stress, we see her reverting. It had me hooked to see. Martell and McHugh did really well as the children also. Martell was made famous from the two It movies but I have to say I'm quite impressed with him for his age. Silverstone and Armitage are solid in support here as well.
As for the effects of the film, we really don't need a lot of them as it isn't that type of film. To be honest though, the realism of them being stranded in this cabin felt real. We do get some practical things later on that looked good. If anything though, this film is shot very well and I was impressed by that for sure.
Now with that aside, despite my high expectations, I felt that this one lived up to them. It is such a haunting film of loss and I really like how they incorporate that this could be supernatural or that it could not be. It is done in a way that doesn't feel like a cheat as well, as we see little hints along the way. The pacing works to build tension and I love how everything ended. The acting was great across the board, which can be tough sticking three characters alone for most of the film. There's not a lot in the way of effects, but it doesn't necessarily need them. It is shot well and the soundtrack fit for what was needed as well. Overall I'd say this is a really good movie and it stuck with me after checking out it. I would recommend this to horror and non-horror fans for sure.

I will always love you. '" Coomer has continued to tell her story. She is one of the survivors featured in a new documentary, " Blind Eyes Opened: The Truth About Sex Trafficking in America. " It will be shown Thursday evening in nearly 800 theaters nationwide and several Nashville-area theaters are participating in the one-night-only viewing.  The feature-length documentary by a Christian production company,  Ships of Tarshish, took six years to make and is billed as a "first-of-its-kind look at the dark roots of sex trafficking, " a news release states. Not only does it dig into this modern slavery epidemic, but the movie also shows how Christian beliefs can help victims heal.  "Once you've learned how to recognize human trafficking, you begin to see it everywhere — it's in every single community, " Geoffrey Rogers, a "Blind Eyes Opened" executive producer, said in the news release.  Rogers is also the CEO of the faith-based nonprofit U. " Over the hour and a half that follows, viewers' eyes will indeed be opened, not only by the many disturbing facts related on-camera by law enforcement personnel, legislators and those dedicated to facilitating the healing of trafficking victims, but also through the haunting first-person accounts of six survivors of this modern-day form of slavery. In a Jan. 17 telephone interview with The Southern Cross, San Diego's diocesan newspaper, executive producer Geoffrey Rogers described the film as unabashedly "a Christian documentary. " "Certainly it exposes the darkness, it shows the truth about sex trafficking in America -- that's the goal of it -- but, when we produced it, we had a very clear objective and that was to show the hope in Jesus Christ to solve this problem, " he explained. During the film, viewers hear from survivors who share Jesus' role in their recovery. The film also shows Christian ministries reaching out to those in the commercial sex trade, and it concludes with a direct challenge to its Christian viewers to do more to combat this societal scourge. After the documentary's one-night-only theatrical release, churches can host their own one-night screenings of the film during a monthlon period, from Jan. 24 to Feb. 20. Several of those interviewed on camera in "Blind Eyes Opened" suggest that society's blindness to this widespread crime is the result of simply not wanting to believe that such things are happening, with increasing frequency, in our own neighborhoods. In the film, Cpl. Alan Wilkett of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office in Florida tells viewers, "It's happening right before our eyes, and yet we're not seeing it. " The film tackles such topics as the insidious ways in which children are lured by traffickers who often prey on vulnerabilities such as low self-esteem and an unstable family life; how law enforcement has shifted from viewing trafficked persons as criminals to recognizing them as crime victims; what additional steps that American society can take against trafficking; and what resources are currently available to those fortunate enough to escape from such a hellish life. Among the many heartbreaking stories recounted in the film is that of Edie B. Rhea, founder of Healing Root Ministry Inc., a nonprofit led by trafficking survivors. Her father died when she was 4. A few months later, a man named Bill moved in with her and her mother. He molested her when she was 10 and, two years later, began selling her for sex to strangers. A childhood photo of a smiling Edie is seen onscreen as the grown woman recounts her lost innocence and the multiple rapes she endured at the butcher shop that Bill and her mother owned. On one occasion, Bill prostituted her in exchange for a new meat grinder. Rhea says in the film that she believes that there were "lots of opportunities for people to see (what was happening), but they didn't see. " "The signs were there, " she added. "They just looked the other way. " Rogers described the survivors' testimonies as "so incredibly powerful. " He said meeting them left an indelible mark on him and his wife. "The messages that these survivors tell are unbelievably heart-wrenching and then incredibly inspiring, because you hear of their faith in Jesus and what He's done for them, " said Rogers, who stepped away from a 15-year career in the corporate world in 2011 after feeling that God was calling him to ministry. Today, he is the CEO and co-founder of the U. S. Institute Against Human Trafficking and the president of Ships of Tarshish Films, a nonprofit that produces television and film content for Christian audiences about important social issues. "Blind Eyes Opened" is the second project from Ships of Tarshish. In its unflinching look at sex trafficking, "Blind Eyes Opened" also takes aim at pornography and abortion. "We identify pornography as the number-one fueling factor that is driving the demand for sex trafficking in America, " Rogers said, explaining that porn addiction leads addicts to seek out increasingly deviant forms of pornography -- and sometimes even to pay for sex -- to achieve the same level of arousal. The story follows a Japanese folk tale and according to my Japanese friend, the film correlated with 80% of what she knew of the tale. Princess Kaguya is found by the Bamboo Cutter growing from a shoot in the forest. She fits into the size of his palm but soon becomes a rapidly growing baby. He decides to raise her as a Princess with his wife, deeming that the Heavens wanted so. However, Princess Kaguya receives many suitors and she feels stifled with her new status. Though the animation is not what we have become used to, it strongly portrays the emotions of the characters as well as enforces the mood of the scenes. It felt very expressionistic but was also vivid and bright at times, like an endless steam of paintings (though technically that is what animations are.
There was this one scene which depicted Princess Kaguya running in the face of adversity and you could really tell that the animation were drawings with some very obvious pencil lines. However, it showed the act of fast movement really well and paired with dark colours to compliment the mood. That scene stood out to me and was exceptional in my opinion.
I do feel that it could've cut short a few scenes. It's about 2 hours and 17 minutes long and during the middle it seemed to drag for awhile. It was not boring, but I was tired enough to be very sleepy and actually closed my eyes once or twice in the middle. Plus, the theatre seats were not very comfortable.
Also, there was this one part near the end where something seemed to have happened but then it was totally disregarded and I'm left wondering what just happened. I can't tell much without giving it away but it just lost its continuity for a bit there. Oh, and there was the appearance of a certain religious figure that caused some discrepancy with what I knew of Japanese culture as well. It came as quite a shock to see that figure appearing almost randomly.
I hadn't realized there was another Studio Ghibli film out, and I'm glad I caught this even though it wasn't in the mainstream cinemas. And though Hayao Miyazaki has retired and had no input in this, the film still stands up to its Ghibli reputation.

オリヴィアにはオーシーノの他にも求婚者がおり、オリヴィアの叔父トービーの遊び仲間であるアンドルーもその一人だった。愛しいオリヴィアが公爵の小姓に熱を上げていると聞いたアンドルーは、トービーにそそのかされてシザーリオに決闘を申し込む。シザーリオは仕方なくその決闘を受けるが、シザーリオのことをセバスチャンだと思い込んだアントニオが割って入り、決闘を止める。その後、警備員に捕まってしまうアントニオだったが、ヴァイオラは彼が自分のことをセバスチャンと呼ぶのを聞いて、兄が生きていることを知る。 (Virginio Orsini) からきているのではないかと推定されており、このイタリアの貴族は1600年から1601年にロンドンを訪問している [5] 。 もうひとつの種本である『アポロニアスとシッラ』 ( Of Apollonius and Silla) はバーナビー・リッチの作品集である Riche his Farewell to Militarie Profession conteining verie pleasaunt discourses fit for a peaceable tyme （1581年）に収録されており、マテオ・バンデッロの物語の翻案である [6] 。 アーサー・ボイド・ホートンによる「サー・アンドルー・エイギュチークを助けにくるサー・トービー・ベルチ」（1854年頃） タイトルの「十二夜」は、クリスマスの12日後に行われる 公現祭 の夜の祝宴のことである。もともとは カトリック の祭日であったが、どんちゃん騒ぎの日となっていた。召使いが主人のような服装をし、男女も衣服を取り替えた。この祝祭儀礼と カーニヴァル 的な反転は、一年の同じ時期に祝われた 古代ローマ の祭である サトゥルナリア にもとづくものではないかと言われており、本作のジェンダーが混乱するプロットの文化的な起源である。 エリザベス朝 においても十二夜の祝いは馬鹿騒ぎを含むものであり、一時的にエンタテイメント、音楽、 ママーズ・プレイ などをとりしきる権威を与えられた無礼講の王（ロード・オブ・ミスルール）が任命された。この芝居は、こうした無礼講が許される伝統的な祝祭の雰囲気を残した作品である [7] 。このため、通常の物事のきまり、特にジェンダーロールの逆転が起こっている [8] 。ひどいめにあって孤立するマルヴォーリオは、サー・トービー・ベルチが主導する、祝宴を楽しむ祭の共同体に敵対する存在として描かれている [9] [10] 。 テーマ [ 編集] ジェンダーロールと異性装 [ 編集] ヴァイオラのほかにも、シェイクスピア劇には異性装するヒロインがいる。シェイクスピアの時代の演劇では、若い男性が女役を演じており、そうした役者が一時的に男性らしいふりをする女性キャラクターに扮することで、入り組んだ変装にユーモアの要素が組み込まれるようになっている [11] 。ヴァイオラは異性装をすることで、オーシーノとオリヴィアの間の使者を務めたり、オーシーノの秘密を知る親友となったりするなど、通常は男性のものとされる役割を自分のものとすることになる。しかしヴァイオラは、『 お気に召すまま 』のロザリンドや『 ヴェニスの商人 』のポーシャに比べると、男装によってプロットに直接介入することが少なく、「時」 ("Time") にプロットの解決をゆだねている [12] 。 。『十二夜』におけるジェンダーの描写は、女性が不完全な男性であるという初演の時代に普及していた科学観からきているということも指摘されている [15] 。この考えにより、『十二夜』のキャスティングとキャラクターにおいて異性のきょうだいの間に見分けがつかないとされている設定が説明できる。ヴァイオラが芝居の最後にオーシーノと婚約する場面までずっと異性装のままであることは、しばしばヴァイオラとオーシーノの間のホモエロティックな関係の可能性についての議論の引き金となっている。 河合祥一郎 ）で唱えた説で、十二夜のその日その場所でシェイクスピアの劇団が劇を上演した記録があることと、その時の主賓が登場人物と同名のイタリア貴族オーシーノ公爵だったことを根拠にしている。しかしこの説は、公爵が自分と同名の登場人物が道化にからかわれるのを見て喜んだか、また公爵訪英の知らせが入ったのが12月25日のことで、いくらシェイクスピアでもこれほどの短期間で新作を仕上げるのは難しいのではないか、という疑問がある。 執筆年代について確実に言えるのは、前述したように1602年の初めには上演できる状態であったということと、どれほど早くとも 1599年 以後に書かれたということ程度である。それは同年に出版されたエドワード・ライト ( Edward Wright) のイギリス初の世界地図への言及が第3幕第3場のマライアの台詞にあることからわかる。デイヴィッド・ビーヴィントン ( David Bevington) は 1599年 の執筆の可能性を示唆している。さらに英文学者の 河合祥一郎 は、シェイクスピアの作品をパロディ化している作者不明の『気をつけろ』（ Look About You, 1599年から1600年執筆、1600年出版）が『十二夜』の真似もしていることから、それ以前であること、つまり 1599年 か 1600年 だという [24] 。しかし 1601年 オーシーノ公爵が途中から伯爵と呼ばれている。 「私、歌が歌える」といっていたヴァイオラが歌を歌わない。 マライアがマルヴォーリオいじめを計画する時、サー・トビーとサー・アンドルーと阿呆の3人にマルヴォーリオを隠れ見るように言っているのに、実際には阿呆ではなくフェイビアンなる人物がでてくる [27] 。 上演史 [ 編集] シェイクスピアの時代 [ 編集] 初演と執筆年代 の節で述べたように、最初の記録に残っている上演は1602年2月2日に ミドル・テンプル で行われた上演である。この上演のことを日記に記録したジョン・マニンガムは、明らかにマルヴォーリオのプロットを一番楽しかったと評価しており、さらにシェイクスピアが前に執筆した芝居である『 間違いの喜劇 』との共通点を指摘し、材減のひとつである『インガンニ』との関係にも触れている [28] 。 初演はもっと早い時期であったかもしれない。 初演と執筆年代 で述べたレスリー・ホットソンなどの主張が正しければ、 ホワイトホール宮殿 で1601年1月6日の十二夜の祝宴で本作が上演された可能性もある [29] 。『十二夜』は1618年4月8日の イースターマンデイ に宮廷で上演され、1623年のキャンドルマスにも上演されている。 王政復古から19世紀まで [ 編集] ウィリアム・ハミルトンによる『十二夜』の一場面の絵、1797年頃 『十二夜』は イングランド王政復古 にあたって最初期に再上演された演目のひとつである。サー・ ウィリアム・ダヴェナント は1661年にこの戯曲を翻案しており、 トマス・ベタートン をサー・トービー・ベルチの役で起用した。 サミュエル・ピープス はこのバージョンを「馬鹿な芝居」だと考えたが、それでも1661年9月11日、1663年1月6日、1669年1月20日に観劇している。別の翻案である Love Betray'd, or, The Agreeable Disappointment が1703年に リンカーンズ・イン・フィールズ で上演されている [5] 。 17世紀から18世紀初めまでは翻案ばかり上演されていたが、シェイクスピアの原作版『十二夜』が1741年にドルリー・レイン劇場で再演された。1820年にはフレデリック・レイノルズがオペラ版を上演し、音楽は ヘンリー・ビショップ が担当した。 20世紀から21世紀 [ 編集] 1912年にハーリィ・グランヴィル＝バーカーが非常に影響力のある上演を行い、1916年には オールド・ヴィック・シアター で『十二夜』が上演された。 イェール大学演劇協会による1921年の『十二夜』上演ポスター リリアン・ベイリス は長期間休館していた サドラーズ・ウェルズ劇場 を再開し、1931年に ラルフ・リチャードソン がサー・トービー役、 ジョン・ギールグッド がマルヴォーリオ役で『十二夜』を上演した。 オールド・ヴィック・シアター は1941年に ロンドン大空襲 で深刻な被害を被り、1950年に再開したが、その際に ペギー・アシュクロフト をヴァイオラ役に起用して『十二夜』を上演した。ジョン・ギールグッドはシェイクスピア・メモリアル・シアターの一環として1955年にマルヴォーリオ役を ローレンス・オリヴィエ 、ヴァイオラとセバスチャン両方を ヴィヴィアン・リー が演じる演出で上演を行った。 ブロードウェイ・シアター 最長の上演はマーガレット・ウェブスターが1940年に演出した公演で、マルヴォーリオを モーリス・エヴァンス 、ヴァイオラを ヘレン・ヘイズ が演じた。このプロダクションは129回の公演を行ったが、これは通常のブロードウェイの上演の2倍以上の回数である。 リヴィウ・チューレイが1984年10月から11月にかけて ミネアポリス のガスリー・シアターで行った上演は、アーキタイプ的な サーカス の世界を舞台とし、祝宴的、カーニヴァル的な要素を強調した [30] 。 初演時はすべての女役が男性によって演じられていたが、その後数世紀の間は女性を女役に起用するのが普通であった。 ロンドン の シェイクスピアズ・グローブ のカンパニーでは多数の非常に人気が高いオールメールキャスト上演を実施しており、2002年のシーズンでは『十二夜』を上演した。これはグローブの芸術監督 マーク・ライランス がオリヴィアを演じ、 エディ・レッドメイン がヴァイオラを演じるもので、シーズン開幕前の2月に、1602年にこの芝居が上演された ミドル・テンプル ・ホールで上演400周年記念を祝って先行上演された。2012年から2013年のシーズンでこの演目が再演され、グローブでの上演ののちウェスト・エンドとブロードウェイに劇場を移して上演された。上演は非常に人気があり、売り切れとなった。 スティーヴン・フライ がマルヴォーリオ、ヴァイオラ役はジョニー・フリンが演じ、『 リチャード三世 』とともにレパートリーの一部として上演された [31] 。 20世紀後半には多くの著名な女優がヴァイオラを演じており、ステレオタイプ的なジェンダーロールの限界を超える感覚を、どれほど観客に経験させられるかが解釈のキーのひとつとなっている [32] 。これは時として、本作のプロダクションがどの程度統合の感覚を再確認する方向に向かうかということと関連する。例えば、芝居の結末部分で 第二次世界大戦 後のコミュニティの再統合を強調した1947年のプロダクションでは、当時44歳であったビアトリクス・レーマンが演じるたくましいヒーロー/ヒロインとしてのヴァイオラがこの再会と再統合を主導した [33] 。1966年の ロイヤル・シェイクスピア・カンパニー のプロダクションでは、 ダイアナ・リグ 演じるヴァイオラがそれまでの上演よりもはるかに公爵に対して肉体的魅力を発揮し、宮廷もとくに男性間での肉体的誇示があらわになるような場所として描かれ、ジェンダーの侵犯がより明白になった [34] 。ドナルド・シンデンをマルヴォーリオ、 ジュディ・デンチ をヴァイオラに起用したジョン・バートン演出の1969年のプロダクションでは、役者の演技が高く評価され、プロダクション自体は粉々に崩れてゆく死にゆく社会を提示するものだという評価を受けた [35] 。 マルヴォーリオは役者の間では人気のある役柄である。 イアン・ホルム は何度もこの役を演じ、他に サイモン・ラッセル・ビール （ ドンマー・ウエアハウス 、2002年）、リチャード・コーデリー（2005年）、 パトリック・スチュワート （ チェスター 、2007年）、 デレク・ジャコビ （ドンマー・ウエアハウス、2009年）、リチャード・ウィルソン（2009年）などがこの役を演じている [36] 。 翻案 [ 編集] 舞台作品 [ 編集] 若い女性が「男の世界」行う自立の道の探求、「ジェンダーの曖昧化」、（回り道ではあるが）「同性間の性的惹かれ合い」などのテーマゆえに、ミュージカルなどを中心に多数の舞台翻案が制作されている [37] 。 Your Own Thing （1968年）、 Music Is （1977年）、 All Shook Up （2005年）、 Play On! （1997年）などがその例であり、最後のふたつはそれぞれ エルヴィス・プレスリー と デューク・エリントン の楽曲を用いた ジュークボックス・ミュージカル である。ピーター・エリス作曲によるミュージカル Illyria も制作されている。シアター・グロテスコはオーシーノ公爵とオリヴィアの召使いの視点から現代版の翻案劇を制作している。この翻案は階級差別やリーダーシップなき社会について考察するものである。 1999年に『十二夜』は『十二夜－またはお望みのもの－』というタイトルで 宝塚歌劇団 により上演されたが、この作品には劇場と役者の役割についてさらに明らかな注釈がいくつか付け加えられており、さらに全ての役が女優によって演じられるため、ジェンダーをステージに適応させることがより多層的に描かれた [38] 。なお、宝塚歌劇団は1980年に『十二夜』の翻案による『 恋の冒険者たち 』を上演している。 2005年には、 尾上菊之助 が 蜷川幸雄 に演出依頼し、『十二夜』を 歌舞伎 演目として作り替える『NINAGAWA十二夜』が上演された。本作は2007年に再演され、2009年にはロンドンの バービカン・センター で上演された [39] 。 映画 [ 編集] 1910年にヴァイタグラフ・スタジオがフローレンス・ターナー、ジュリア・スウェイン・ゴードン、マリン・セイス主演で『十二夜』の短い サイレント映画 版を作っている。また、オーストラリアで1986年に『十二夜』 ( Twelfth Night) として映画化されている。 1996年の映画『 十二夜 』は トレヴァー・ナン 監督による イギリス映画 で、19世紀を舞台にしている。 イモジェン・スタッブス がヴァイオラ役、 ヘレナ・ボナム＝カーター がオリヴィア役、 トビー・スティーブンス がオーシーノ役である。メル・スミスがサー・トービー、 リチャード・E・グラント がサー・アンドルー、 ベン・キングズレー がフェステ、 イメルダ・スタウントン がマライア、 ナイジェル・ホーソーン がマルヴォーリオを演じた。喜劇的な要素が減って正攻法のドラマになっているため、批判を受けた [40] 。 2001年に ディズニー・チャンネル・オリジナル・ムービー が モトクロス の世界に舞台を置き換えて『モトクロスト』 ( Motocrossed) を制作している。 2004年の映画『 ホワイト・ライズ 』では ローズ・バーン 演じるアレックスがアマチュアの『十二夜』上演でヴァイオラを演じる。 本作は2度、アメリカの高校を舞台にした作品として翻案されている。1985年に制作された『彼女はハイスクール・ボーイ』 ( Just One of the Guys) と、2006年の映画『アメリカン・ピーチパイ』 ( She's the Man) である [41] 。 『 彼女はハイスクール・ボーイ （ 英語版 ） 』は、高校生のテリー（ジョイス・ハイザー）が性差別ゆえに憧れの仕事であった新聞社のインターンに選ばれなかったと考え、両親の留守中に男装してライバルの高校に男子として入学し、そこで友人になったリックに恋してしまうという物語である。設定は『十二夜』に似ているが、名前や展開などは原作と大きく異なり、自由な翻案である。 『 アメリカン・ピーチパイ 』は『彼女はハイスクール・ボーイ』よりも原作に近い作品になっている。本作は『 恋のからさわぎ 』が『 じゃじゃ馬ならし 』を現代化したのと同様の手法で『十二夜』を現代のティーンコメディに作り替えており、同じチームが脚本を担当している。舞台はイリリアというプレップスクールで、芝居の主要人物の名前も同じである。例えばイリリアの公爵オーシーノは「デューク・オーシーノ」（「公爵」を意味する「デューク」がファーストネーム）となっている。ただしヴァイオラは男装後「シザーリオ」ではなく、兄の実名「セバスチャン」を使用して男性のふりをする。物語はサッカーチームのライバル関係をめぐるものに変わっているが、混乱したロマンスは原作と同じように描かれている。主人公のヴァイオラは兄セバスチャンのふりをし、オリヴィアはヴァイオラをセバスチャンだと思って恋に落ちる。「シザーリオ」という名前は高校の生徒たちが行くレストランの名前に使われている。イリリア学園サッカーチームでデュークのチームメイトになるのはアンドルーとトービーである。マルヴォーリオの脇筋は省かれているが、少しだけ登場する タランチュラ にマルヴォーリオという名前がつけられている。モニークやマルカムなど、シェイクスピアの作品から直接来ているのではない人物も登場する。 『 恋におちたシェイクスピア 』には『十二夜』への言及がある。映画の終盤で、 ジュディ・デンチ 演じる エリザベス1世 が ジョセフ・ファインズ 演じるシェイクスピアに十二夜の祝宴用の喜劇を書くよう頼む。映画に登場するシェイクスピアの恋人は グウィネス・パルトロウ 演じる「ヴァイオラ」であり、富裕な商人の娘で、役者になるため男のふりをする。シェイクスピアは金銭的に困窮し、『 ロミオとジュリエット 』を書こうとしてスランプに陥っている劇作家である。ヴァイオラは映画の最後で『十二夜』のヒロインのモデルとして提示される。『十二夜』が難破で始まることをふまえ、この映画はヴァイオラが恋人であるシェイクスピアと引き裂かれ、意に染まぬ結婚を強いられてアメリカの植民地に向かった後、難破を生き延びてヴァージニアの岸に降り立つ場面を含んでいる。 『十二夜』は『 Vフォー・ヴェンデッタ 』で言及されている。登場人物であるVがイヴィーと踊りながらヴァイオラの台詞を引用する。 テレビ番組 [ 編集] 1937年5月14日に BBC One が『十二夜』の30分間の抜粋をロンドンで放送した。これは記録に残っているものの中では、シェイクスピアの戯曲がテレビで放送された最初の例である。ジョージ・モア・オフェラルが新しいメディアであるテレビ用にプロデュースしたもので、のちに アカデミー賞 を受賞する著名な女優 グリア・ガースン が若手として出演している。 アレクサンドラ・パレス のBBCスタジオからライヴで放送され、テレビ放送を記録する技術は存在しない時代であったため、 スチール写真 以外の映像記録は残っていない [42] 。 1939年にマイケル・セイント＝デニスの演出により、こちらも将来のアカデミー賞女優である ペギー・アシュクロフト 主演で芝居の全編がテレビ放映された。サー・トービー・ベルチの役は若き日のジョージ・ディヴァインが務めた。 1957年にアメリカの NBC が『ホールマーク・ホール・オヴ・フェイム』のプログラムでこの芝居を放映した。これは『十二夜』がはじめてカラーでテレビ放映された機会であった。モーリス・エヴァンズが舞台で当たり役であったマルヴォーリオを再び演じ、デニス・キング、 ローズマリー・ハリス 、フランセス・ハイランドも出演した。 1966年にオーストラリアでテレビ版の『十二夜』が放映されている。 1696年にジョン・シッチェルとジョン・デクスターの演出でUKテレビ版が制作された。 ジョーン・プロウライト がヴァイオラとセバスチャンを演じ、 アレック・ギネス がマルヴォーリオ、 ラルフ・リチャードソン がサー・トービー・ベルチを演じ、トミー・スティールが非常に独創的なフェステであった。 1980年にさらにテレビ版『十二夜』  ( Twelfth Night)  が作られた。これは『BBCテレヴィジョンシェイクスピア』シリーズの一部で、 フェリシティ・ケンダル （ 英語版 ） がヴァイオラ、 シニード・キューザック がオリヴィア、 アレック・マッコーエン がマルヴォーリオ、 ロバート・ハーディ がサー・トービー・ベルチであった。1981年12月19日 NHK総合 、12月27日 NHK教育 でNHKシェークスピア劇場『十二夜』として放送（字幕） [43] 。 1988年に ケネス・ブラナー 演出の舞台がテムズ・テレヴィジョンのためにテレビ化された。フランセス・バーバーがヴァイオラ、 リチャード・ブライアーズ がマルヴォーリオを演じた。 1998年にリンカーン・センター・シアターが ニコラス・ハイトナー 演出で『十二夜』上演を行い、これが PBS ライヴ・フロム・ リンカーン・センター として放映された。 ヘレン・ハント がヴァイオラ、 ポール・ラッド がオーシーノ、 キーラ・セジウィック がオリヴィア、 フィリップ・ボスコ がマルヴォーリオ、ブライアン・マリィがサー・トービー、 マックス・ライト がサー・アンドルー、 デヴィッド・パトリック・ケリー がフェステであった。 2003年にティム・サプル演出による現代を舞台にしたテレビ映画が作られた。デイヴィッド・トロートンがサー・トービーを演じ、パーミンダー・ナグラがヴァイオラ役、 チュイテル・イジョフォー がオーシーノ役という多民族キャストであった。ヴァイオラとセバスチャンがイリリアに到着する場面は、難民のニュース映像を思わせるものであった。 イギリスのテレビシリーズ『 スキンズ 』のエピソード「グレイス」 ( Grace) で、主要な登場人物が『十二夜』を演じる。フランキー、リヴ、マッティの三角関係の状態にあり、それぞれヴァイオラ、オリヴィア、オーシーノを演じる。 ラジオ [ 編集] キャスリーン・ネスビット がBBCのために翻案した『十二夜』がイギリスの ラジオ でシェイクスピア劇が全編放送された最初の例である。1923年5月28日のことであり、ネズビットがヴァイオラとセバスチャン両方を演じ、ジェラルド・ローレンスがオーシーノを演じた [44] 。 1937年の『 CBS ラジオプレイハウス』による翻案は オーソン・ウェルズ がオーシーノ、 タルーラ・バンクヘッド がヴァイオラを演じるものであった。1年後にウェルズは自らの劇団マーキュリー・シアター・カンパニーでマルヴォーリオを演じた。 BBCでは『十二夜』全編が何回かラジオで放送されている。1982年のラジオ4の放送ではアレック・マッコーウェンがオーシーノ、ウェンディ・マリーがヴァイオラ、ノーマン・ロドウェイがサー・トービー・ベルチ、アンドルー・サックスがサー・アンドルー、バーナード・ヘプトンがマルヴォーリオを演じた。1993年にBBCラジオ3で カリブ海 Mistress Mine, 第2幕第3場）と「来たれ、死よ」（ Come Away, Come Away, Death 第2幕第4場）に曲をつけている。 影響 [ 編集] デンマークの哲学者 セーレン・キェルケゴール は著書『哲学的断片』で「ひどい結婚をするならよく首をくくられたほうがマシ」という第1幕第5場のフェステがマライアに言う台詞を引いて「よい首くくりがずいぶんと悪い結婚を防いでいる」と述べている。 フリードリヒ・ニーチェ は『 道徳の系譜 』で、『十二夜』のサー・アンドルーが第1幕第3場で牛肉を食べ過ぎると機知が足りなくなるのではと言う台詞に言及している。 『 キディ・グレイド 』のキャラクターであるヴァイオラとシザーリオは『十二夜』の登場人物から名前をとっている。 エリザベス・ハンドの中編小説『イリリア』 ( Illyria) は『十二夜』の高校での上演を取り上げており、フェステの歌をはじめとして芝居に対するさまざまな言及を含む。 クラブ・ペンギンの Twelfth Fish はシェイクスピアの戯曲のパロディである。 アガサ・クリスティ による1940年のミステリ小説『 試写会で『 シェイクスピアの庭 』を見てきた。 ケネス・ブラナー と ジュディ・デンチ が晩年の シェイクスピア 夫妻を演じるという作品である。 　話は1613年、『ヘンリー八世』の上演中にグローブ座が燃える事件から始まる。 ウィリアム・シェイクスピア ( ケネス・ブラナー)はこれを機に引退して ストラトフォード・アポン・エイヴォン の故郷に帰ることにする。久しぶりに妻のアン( ジュディ・デンチ)と同居することになり、亡き息子ハムネットを記念する庭を造ることにするが、長くひとりでロンドンに住んでいたウィリアムはなかなか家族とうまくいかない。 　晩年の シェイクスピア 夫妻をじっくり描いた作品で、以前から一緒に仕事をしているブラナーやデンチの演技は申し分ないし、風景なども綺麗で、地味だが味わい深い文芸歴史映画だ。ウィリアムの パトロン である サウサンプトン 伯( イアン・マッケラン)がおじいさんになってから ストラト フォードを訪ねてくるというとても面白い場面があり、ウィリアムのほうは サウサンプトン に恋心を抱いていた一方、 サウサンプトン のほうは詩人としてウィリアムを尊敬しているだけで、お互い大事に思ってはいるのだが 性的指向 と身分の違いで完全に心を通わせることはできないという様子が丁寧に描かれている。いくつか笑えるところもあるのだが、全体的には静かな映画で、もうちょっとコミカルにしてもいいのでは…と思えるところも多かった。 　ただ、こういう映画をそもそもブラナー、デンチ、マッケランというイギリスが誇る シェイクスピア 役者たちが集まって作ったということが重要だ。というのも、 マーク・ライランス や デレク・ジャコビ みたいな著名な シェイクスピア 役者たちが シェイクスピア 別人説( ストラト フォードの シェイクスピア が シェイクスピア 劇の作者ではない、という説)に加担し、『 もうひとりのシェイクスピア 』みたいな別人説を宣伝するみたいな映画も作られてしまったような状況では、そこそこ史実にのっとった シェイクスピア の伝記映画を作っておくのは意味があると思うからだ。この映画はかなりきちんと 時代考証 をしているし、 シェイクスピア 夫妻の感情的なしこりとか、息子の死をめぐるいざこざとかはかなり想像に基づいているものの、基本的な史実については若干の誇張や省略はあってもけっこう正しく描いている。娘たちの結婚や相続をめぐる問題、遺言の内容などはだいたい正確で、それに想像力で肉付けするというやり方をとっている。 サウサンプトン が『 ソネット 集』に出てくる美しき若者で シェイクスピア は サウサンプトン に恋心を抱いていたのではないかというのも昔から言われている仮説で、単なる推測にすぎないとはいえ批評家が昔から言っていることだ。きちんと研究調査を行って誠実に17世紀初頭の イングランド の人たちの暮らしぶりを描こうとした作品であり、そこはとても歴史映画として評価できる。.

「さびしんぼう」はスクリーンでこれまでに通算3回は観ました.大好きな作品です.観るたびに切ない気持ちで満たされます. ミクロの視点で戦争を描こうとすれば幾らでも解釈はある.しかし米国の開国以来の西進の歴史から見れば解釈は一つ西部開拓だと言える.ほぼ皆殺しにされた600万人のインディアンと同じ運命をたどらされる所だった日本.米国は原爆投下や市街地空襲による市民の大虐殺の責任をこれからとらねばならない. ブラナー・シアター・ライブ2016 「冬物語」 download free music. 「ブラナー・シアター・ライブ2016 「冬物語」」に投稿された感想・評価 すべての感想・評価 ネタバレなし ネタバレ シェイクスピアのロマンス劇だから結末は良かった〜悲劇じゃない。 お祭りダンスがめっちゃ愉快だったから好き。衣装も素敵だった。 プロモーション映像観てるだけで泣きそう〜(曲で) 猜疑心と破滅 後悔と贖罪 然し、人間は、赦されるのだろうか 鑑賞した時期が時期で、ブラナーのイントロダクションから苦しかった シェイクスピア好きでなくても、オススメです。『冬物語』は活字でしか触れたことがなく難解だったので、今回ですごく理解できた。本場の劇場版をみられるなんて本当に幸せ。でもでもやはりロンドンでみたい... 。 ミスペルグリンのデンチおば様の扱いになんとも言えない気分になり、3000円は高いけど見なければ気が収まらない！ 結果、見てよかった。 正直ケネスのシンデレラが嫌いだったので斜に構えてたのだが、デンチのみならずケネスの音楽のような台詞まわしに惚れ惚れ。 デンチおば様は意地悪でもなく、恩着せがましくもなく、大義のために動けるかっこいい家臣(の妻)を見事に演じてた。 シリアスなシーンでもクスリと笑わせるその微妙なさじ加減。 ああ、おば様がきちんと活躍している演技を観られて幸せ… また、シェイクスピアはあまりちゃんと見たことなかったが、人の狂気、後悔、時間の治癒と普遍的な事柄を描いてて改めてすごい人なんだな…と認識(無教養ですんません) これを映画と呼んでいいかは別だけど、映画館で手軽に名舞台を観れるのはよいことだなと、3000円ぜんぜん高くなかったと足取り軽く映画館をあとにできて本当に今日は良い日であった。 1週間のみの上映は勿体無い。 ブラナー本人による導入イントロダクションによると悲劇のように聞こえたけれど、実際は全く違う話だった。(シェイクスピアの原作未読の方は、どんなオチだったのか是非観て感じて欲しい) カメラワーク、脚本、舞台芸術、キャスト、全てが素晴らしい舞台。 特に背景効果の助長は勿論のこと、キャストのシルエットをシーンに合わせて綺麗に映し出すライティングは秀逸。 またティザーほどジュディ・デンチが主役を張っているわけではなく、登場人物全員が際立っていた。 個人的にはロンドン在住時、レミゼでジャベール警部として活躍していたハドリー・フレイザーがボヘミア王を演じていたのが嬉しい驚きだった。 相変わらずセクシーな声とノーブルな顔立ち。。 これからロミジュリ、エンターテイナーとライブ上演予定だけれど、どれもとても楽しみになった。 うーん、ロンドンに行って実際に観たい！ 素人耳にもジュディデンチとケネスブラナーの台詞回しの巧さがわかる。音楽的ってこういうことかー。特に「時」の一つ一つの言葉への重量感が半端なくて…。あそこだけ音源でもいいから欲しい…。 前半と後半の高低差に耳キーンなったけどビバ民衆世界！カントリーな民謡！かしましい女の諍いと小狡いスリとおバカで善良な親子！救われる〜〜王子様だけほんとうるさかったけど他はとっても好きだった〜 嫉妬や思い込みには根拠も信憑性もいらなくて、ただふとした瞬間の小さな出来事が自分の中でどんどん膨れ上がっていく、ってところが『オセロー』よりリアル。気がついたときには取り返しのつかないことになってて、その絶望感に寄り添うような冬の描写が素敵だったー。古典的で堅実な演出。 冬物語はシチリアの王が幼馴染であり親友のボヘミアの王と自分の妃が密通しているのではと猜疑心に駆られて取り返しのつかない悲劇を招くのが一幕。 それから１６年後、どれだけの懺悔で人は許され自分を許せるのか？とその後の彼らの顛末を描くのが二幕。 シチリア王がケネス・ブラナーなんだけど二幕の喪に服したままの衣装ラインがめちゃめちゃ綺麗で！！後ろ姿に雪が降っている演出が堪らなかったよ・・・背中で語るっていうのも凄く胸にくるんだけど…雪っていうのが！！ 一幕の最初の方にボヘミアの王からもらったプレゼントがスノードームで、その時彼はそれをちょっと大したことないものだなって扱いで受け取る。 その後そのスノードームをボヘミア王の息子が気に入って手にして遊んでいる様子とかが挟まって、罪のない息子が王の猜疑心から死んでしまう一幕を経て二幕に彼の上に雪が降っている。 あああ、スノードームの閉じた世界のようにシチリアは１６年冬だったのだなと…。堪らない…好き。 ジュディ・リンチの良くも悪くも女性らしいを演じても出しゃばっているなと感じない、嫌味を言っても嫌味になりすぎず可愛らしさを残した厳しく正しく優しい演技は流石。かわいいって思ってしまう。 シチリア王の行方知れずになっていた娘（牧場で拾われて育っている）をJessie Buckley。なんとも大らかで開放的な生（性）を感じさせる魅力的な方だった！っと思ったらBBCの戦争と平和のマリア役の方でびっくり。歌も最高だったな〜。 こういう演劇系は、ナショナル・シアター・ライブ「スカイライト」（キャリー・マリガン、ビル・ナイ）につづき、ブラナー・シアター・ライブ「冬物語」で二作目。 シェイクスピア『冬物語』はあまり好きじゃないのですが笑（いちばん好きなのは『ヴェニスの商人』です）、これを逃したら観る機会がなさそうなので、観てきました。 内容と関係ないところで気になったのは、ケネス・ブラナーが、「ハリー・ポッターと秘密の部屋」の時と比べると、ちょっとぽっちゃりしたな〜ということでした（役作り？）。ただ、演技はすばらしかった。ジュディ・デンチはさすがの貫禄。 原作でも本作でもいちばん好きなシーンは、擬人化された「時」が、「年月が一六年ほど飛びますが、その早すぎる飛翔をお叱りになりませぬように。といいますのも、それは時だけが持つ権限なのですから」（第4幕第1場）みたいに言うところです。シェイクスピアって、素敵だなあ〜とつくづく思います。 いつか、イギリスの劇場で生で観たい！ 王の猜疑心から引き起こされた悲劇の過酷さ、ボヘミアの祭りを楽しむ人々や恋に落ちた二人を見守る暖かさ、ラストの厳かにも感じる雪解けの瞬間。どの場面も美しいおとぎ話のようでとても好き。 歌や踊りの楽しい場面があるところも、楽しかった。 自分の妄想に取り憑かれてしまったり、神託によって目が覚めたり、王子や妃が亡くなってしまったり、唐突に感じる部分がありながらも周りの人々が罪を犯した王を赦す事を自然と受け入れられる。すごい説得力。 雪の降る中、一人で佇むリオンディーズの背中に16年間分の自責の念や悲しみを感じられて、王女との再会には思わず涙してしまった。 親友や娘との再会もさぞ美しかったんだろうなぁ…やっぱり観たかったです。 時間も距離もスクリーンも飛び越えて感じる熱量に圧倒されるしかなかった。 カーテンコールで自分も立ち上がって拍手したかったけど我慢…。.
