How this does not have a billion + views is beyond me when stupid ariana grande type crap does. this young generation dont appreciate anything. My Spy is a ridiculously clueless film - it essentially has no idea what it wants to be. One thing it is for sure is that it's incredibly boring, cringe and unfunny, with forced charm and emotion. The film's story completely deviates from a coming-of-age story to an action film. The dialogue and performances were god awful and nothing about the underdeveloped characters made you engaged.

2/10. I saw this movie with my 4 daughters and we all Loved it! We are not professional movie reviewers or anything like that but absolutely enjoyed all the different emotions in this movie, it was Charming, Comical, Witty, Action Packed, Heart Warming, Suspenseful, and more! We also loved the relationship between David Batista & Chloe Coleman. just Precious, and their performances charming! There was some violence and language but nothing bloody or disgusting.

After 3 minutes one of my sons whispered to me "What is this? I don't like it."
I think that about sums it up - What is this movie? What is it trying to be? And when, oh when, will it end?
It's a bit too violent and has too many pointless, non-story progressing scenes to be a kids' movie but it is definitely not for adults. All the good bits are in the 30-second advert that convinced us to go and see it.
We saw a morning session at the cinema. At 10.57am I checked my watch, at 11.01am I checked my watch and was stunned to find time had completely slowed.
Although Chloe Coleman is an excellent actress and very watchable, every other character was unbelievable, unappealing and terribly written. What a waste of clever people like Kristen Schaal (or as I call her, Mel from Flight of the Conchords.
My older son thought it was okay but when pressed, couldn't name a favourite scene. The younger one gave up and ended up playing a game on my phone about an hour in.

Apart from being an amazingly informative movie, this film has so many characteristics I appreciate and applaud. First of all, the acting was phenomenal. Mark Ruffalo absolutely shined in his portrayal of Robert Bilott. Likewise Anne Hathaway, Tim Robbins, Victor Garber, and all other actors and non-actors in this film were marvelous. Now, when I say non-actors, a select few of the characters being portrayed were played by the actual individuals. Likewise, the actual Robert and Sarah Bilott made cameos which are revealed at the end. Their presence made the issue hit home that much more, especially that of Bucky Bailey, but you'll have to see the movie to understand exactly why that is.
I left this movie fully acknowledging that it's the scariest film I've ever seen. There were no demons or ghosts or jump scares, but there was a brutal honesty that I myself was unprepared to face.
I do want to be blatantly honest about the captivating nature of this film. It is an informational film and it is deeply involving legal proceedings and the like. In other words, it's a slow-paced film that will likely be best appreciated by mature viewers. If you're looking for a movie that will be loaded with action or suspense, this probably isn't the movie for you. Even so, I found myself invested in every moment of this film and you may just surprise yourself with how much you like it.

The entire premise of a guys obsession for a jacket feels extremely forced. Watching, I always felt conscious of the scriptwriting process. All plot turns felt very forced. It honestly seemed like Quentin had taken a random bizarre idea, and tried to brainstorm ways to make it work across genres, in an arthouse package.
Its an offbeat mixed genre cocktail that seems to suffer from an identity crisis. Comedy, Horror, drama, arthouse - but in trying to cross all genres just fails to have anything compelling about it. Not funny, clever, deep or exciting in anyway unfortunately.
Dupieux has a strong visual style, the cinematography is well done. and Dujardin is excellent at whatever he touches, but he shouldn't have touched this script. The whole movie really missed the mark for me.
I give it 5/10 because on paper it has everything I like. a strong visual style, quirky premise and fantastic lead man in Jean Dujardin. but unfortunately putting all the elements together was the most disappointing flaw for me.
I feel that watching "bad" movies can often be the most educational in evolving as a filmmaker and I look forward to see what Dupieux learns from his mistakes in this below average film.
